Problem(s)

Social Capability: Due to access barriers and the current framework individuals living in while experiencing homelessness and/or poverty, a person's perception of one's worth and exchange of value, plus awareness and literacy faces perceivably unsurpassable limits.

Availability: Due to poor network infrastructure and quality, people experiencing homelessness and poverty need outside investment and support to connect with opportunities to empower themselves out of poverty.

Solution

Inspire and empower Homeless Entrepreneurs by jump starting new relationships with 6 inspirational professionals from around the world thanks to an intense week of 1-on-1, private conversations.

Opportunity

Homeless Entrepreneur is breaking down barriers by allowing individuals with and without resources to have an intimate, sincere interaction that shows them how much they actually have in common. Both the Homeless Entrepreneur and the special guests are inspired to play a stronger role in promoting economic empowerment and poverty reduction via work and active citizenship.

This initiative creates immediate sustainable results for the Homeless Entrepreneurs and connects the guests in a meaningful way to create greater market access.

How we do it

Homeless Entrepreneur connects 6 inspirational professionals in our network to a Homeless Entrepreneur, who is in our HELP program, during a 20-30 minute conversation via Zoom, where both individuals are invited to share inspiring stories that will change their perception of life.

1) Guest Speaker Selection Process: We have a 5-10 minute call with the guest speakers, who show interest in participating in our Inspiring Talks initiative and match them up with the right Homeless Entrepreneur.

2) Inspiring Talk: Providing a safe space for the individuals, who want to help and those who need help ultimately sheds light on how both can help each other.

3) Strengthening Relationships: We invite the special guests to become an active part of the Homeless Entrepreneur’s support group as well as connect with each other to build stronger community ties.

Our aim is to spark the minds of our community to speed up the process of ending homelessness and reducing poverty by being beyond incredible!

Invited Guest Testimonials

I first met Andrew Funk on LinkedIn when he reached out to ask if could help speak to one of the participants in their program based in Nigeria.

A young man with a promising future and after losing his job went down so fast that he lost everything including his family (wife and daughter) as he couldn’t no longer fend for them, so this caused his wife to move out to look for other means to survive.

I have shared a little bit of experience like the brother above so I was able to relate to this and for me, it gave me the opportunity to not only deeply reflect on the possibilities of this life but also use it as an opportunity to impact another person’s life and give hope to one whose hope dims day by day.

And so after sharing experiences and sharing words of encouragement, even I left the meeting elated having been given the chance to possibly save a life because it was obvious that the fellow was spiraling down into depression but during discussion, I learnt he had a bachelor degree and with the right assistance he can still raise up again and this gave him hope after hearing my own story.

All of this wouldn’t having been possible without Andrew and his vision for the homeless, which is why I deeply appreciate him and his vison.

Dear friends from Homeless Entrepreneur,

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the opportunity to participate in your Inspiring talks.

I feel privileged to have been a part of such an enriching experience.

I had the opportunity to exchange with a very special lady. Her experience, her generosity, reminded me of the basic things in life...like health, caring for others and never taking things for granted.

Mentoring is always a two-way street. Both people benefit from it and I was extremely honored to participate.

Thank you for your trust🙏 and congratulations on your great initiative
